If it has blackish mold on it and has a smell, then you have no choice but to throw it. That mildew is dangerous to your health as the spores get into your lungs and cause problems. Because wicker is a natural material, the mildew actually seeps right into the wicker and you can't get all of it out. Mildew loves moisture, so don't store stuff like that in a damp basement or garage.
If you really want to rescue it, wash in a solution of water, baking soda, and vinegar or ammonia. Then put it out in the direct sun to dry. Strong sunlight can act as a disinfectant.

Moisture and harsh chemicals can damage your wicker furniture. When cleaning spills always use mild detergents or cleaning products that are made for use with wicker. Wipe up any excess moisture with a soft cloth and use a light application of wood protectant like Murphy's Oil Soap or Lemon Oil to maintain the beauty of your wicker furniture.

One design element that is often overlooked in the design of homes is adequate storage space. Due to this design flaw, many people find themselves renting storage space or being forced to live with clutter, as their belongings spread throughout their living space. If you find yourself living in a home where clutter is the prominent theme, it might be time to consider purchasing a wicker storage trunk.
The wicker storage trunk is an excellent solution for storage in many areas of your home. You can use it to store spare blankets and bedding items in your guest room. In your master bedroom, use your wicker trunk to hold your season clothing or family keepsakes. In the bathroom, the wicker storage trunk can provide storage space for bath towels and wash cloths, freeing up your cabinets for other items. In the living room, a set of small, wicker storage trunks can be used as unique end tables while providing storage space for magazines, news papers and remote controls or, with a little craftsmanship, you could easily fit those old, unsightly home theater speakers inside for a decorative look without compromising the quality of your entertainment experience.
